The article I would like to dwell on is concerned with the issue of global warming and its consequences for Bangladesh, in particular. Due to the fact that it is hard for such a water-logged nation to adapt to the effects of climate change, Bangladesh’s foreign minister criticizes the developed nations for a partial disbursement of adaptation money. However, the author of the article reasonably argues that the country (which produces a paltry fraction of CO2) should better try to convince China, India, Europe, and the US to reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases which greatly contribute to global warming.

I believe that the issue raised in the article is of vital importance. Humanity should decrease CO2 emissions as soon as possible. This could be done in the following ways. Firstly, the industry and consumption may be slowed down. Nevertheless, it should be born in mind that, in many developed countries, intensive energy technologies promote the economic boom these countries witness. Thus, the decline of the former could lead to the economic decline or crisis as well. Secondly, factories and enterprises may mask the CO2 emissions using special filters-inhalers that do not let the gas emit. Thirdly, to decrease CO2 consumption, people can use less frequently all motor vehicles emitting CO2 that pose the greatest threat to our environment and are responsible for a high level of air pollution. What is more, if recreating energy sources were implemented, non-polluting unleaded petrol in the vehicles could be used.

According to the article, by the end of the century, the Earth’s temperature may increase by 2-4.5 degrees Celsius. During this time, sea levels are expected to rise by 0.18-0.59 meters. Melting permafrost may reveal long-stored greenhouse gases, which is likely to cause further melting, increased warming, and higher sea levels that no canals and dikes can keep away.
