Many people who know me or meet me for the first time usually think that I am similar to most young, devoted and modern persons who live life as it comes. To explore and establish my interest in dentistry, I volunteered as an assistant dentist at our local clinic. During this period that lasted for seven weeks, I was introduced to several dental techniques by the resident dentist. Even though I was only as observer, I had the special opportunity of meeting and interacting with patients. Moreover, I made contact with a diverse patient population, which had different problems regarding their dental health. I observed the resident dentist dealing with every patient individually and treated them to the best of his ability. I was able to familiarize myself with different strategies of disease prevention and oral health promotion. As a result, my interest in pursuing a career in dentistry grew because of the things I learnt and the experience I gained.
My long term goal is to establish my own dental practice in the coming years. Nothing can give me so much happiness than transforming a neglected mouth to a healthier and newer mouth.
