Thank you for giving me the opportunity to express myself on why my low GPA is not indicative of my future performance in my Master’s program. My education has been interrupted along the way denying me continuity. I dropped out of college at the age of 16 and received my GED. After that I stayed out of school for eight years. At the age of 24, I went back to college. After six years of part-time schooling and full-time work, I graduated with a GPA of 2.74.
However I feel I ought to have done better judging by my performance in the last two years of college. My GPA for the last two years was always 3.0 or higher. Cumulatively, it was pulled down to 2.74 by my performance in the earlier years. Performance for the first years was affected by a long stay out of school which meant I needed time to adjust. The situation was made worse by the fact that I was working and studying at the same time. Having stayed out of school for the eight years adjusting to the school work and my job was not easy.
However I kept improving my grades every time attaining a GPA of above 3.0 in the last 2 years. This goes to show that I had the capability of attaining a GPA of more than 3.0 every time but circumstances were not working to my favor. My circumstance has improved over the time and given a chance, I am in a better position to concentrate in my schoolwork and deliver better results constantly. As a person I am very ambitious, hardworking and disciplined which I intend to use in my studies to perform above expectations. I am looking forward for a positive response. Thank you in advance.
