Kenya and the United States have similarities and differences in the way they run their governments, education system, and culture. An analysis of their governments, education and culture can reveal which country is superior to the other. This document analyses the two countries and provides results, based on the analysis, on the country which is superior.

Education

Both Kenya and United States have public and private educational institutions. Public institutions are owned by the government while private institutions owned by individuals. Education system in the United States is structured as follows: Two years in pre-primary, four years in primary, three years in the middle level, six years in secondary, three years in junior secondary, and four years in upper secondary (EuroEducation.net, 2006). At the end of each stage, students are accessed and awarded a diploma or certificate which enables them to move to the next level. Education system in Kenya on the other hand, requires students to take three years in pre-primary, eight years in primary, four years in secondary, and four years in tertiary education. A part from the tertiary level, Kenyan education system accesses students nationally. Unlike United States, Kenyan government does not emphasize on pre-primary education. It has therefore not employed early childhood education teachers. US educational system emphasizes on developing talents unlike the Kenyan system which put emphasis on the students’ grades.

Government

Both the Kenyan government and US government are governed by their respective constitutions. Like the US government, the Kenyan government has three independent arms: The executive, legislature, and judiciary (Kenya-Travel-Packsges.com, 2012). The executive is responsible for enforcing law and order, the legislature make laws, while the judiciary interprets laws and ensure they are enforced. The US government allows devolved government to the various states just like in the Kenyan case where the new constitution establishes devolution at the county level. This allows equal distribution of both national and local revenue.

Culture

Even though both Kenya and the US have their own cultures, Kenya value and practice their culture more than US do. Kenyan culture is based on its ethnic groups and races. The Kenyan culture is so deep that it influences major decisions in the country. Political parties formed, for example, are always based on ethnic groupings. This greatly influences voting patterns in Kenya. The more votes a certain ethnic community has, the higher the chance of a leader from the community winning. Kenyans value their culture so much that the government created the Ministry of State for National Heritage and Culture (Ministry of State for National Heritage and Culture, 2010).

Conclusion

Education system in US promotes talents of students while the Kenyan system emphasizes on student performance. The Kenyan education system is therefore inferior since it denies students with special talents and could not score high marks a chance to proceed and explore their talents further. Moreover, Kenya values their culture so much that it affects major decisions such as voting of the country. In view of the information presented, US are superior to Kenya.
