Introduction 

Stages of life refer to the phases an individual passes through from the time of birth to the time of death. These key phases are: birth, adolescence, graduation from high school, college years, marriage, midlife, retirement and death. Health care is the medical attention given to a person by qualified medical practitioners such as nurses, dentist and doctor’s. Medical attention comprises prevention and treatment of diseases. It also entails maintenance of the physical and mental wellbeing of a person. It’s important to note that patients have adopted an informed attitude to their heath unlike in the past (Last, 1983)

Early Childhood

Age influences health care profoundly. This is especially so in the early days of childhood. This time the child is vulnerable to all kinds of diseases and infections (Falvo, 2010). The responsibility of health care rests on the parents. The parents of a new born baby must provide basic provisions like food clothes and shelter that safeguard the health of the baby or child. As the baby grows out of the crib into childhood it must be taught some fundamental health skills. Such include flossing of teeth and hand washing among others. Professional health care must be provided for it’s of utmost importance at this stage of life (Falvo, 2010). Parents also ensure that the child receives appropriate   medical attention like immunization and regular medical check ups.This is because at this stage of life the health of the child cannot be bungled (Falvo, 2010).

Late childhood/puberty

At this period of a person’s life emotions take centre stage. The individual’s perception about many things changes rapidly .physical changes occur in the body of the adolescent These are the school going years .This particular age influences health care in a most unique manner. This age encompasses a period of intense mental and emotional transformations. The   teen’s health care must focus on emotional stability and proper mental development. The adolescent is affected by how others view him or her (Last, 1983). Peer pressure is heavy at this time and deeply affects the psychological frame of the individual. Poor emotional management can lead to disastrous physical health effects. The teenager must refrain from bad and addictive habits like tobacco and alcohol taking that can adversely affect life (Falvo, 2010).

Graduation from school

The person is barely out of adolescent when he or she graduates from high school. In this age the individual is full of energy. This age will affect the individual’s physical health. This is because persons in this age are very sportive and they engage in physically demanding activities (Falvo, 2010). This pushes the individual to participate in sports and games (Last, 1983). Graduation from school is highly contemplative moment and consequently affects mental health care.

College Years

“College years “is the period between 20-25 years. Health care becomes a conscious concern as these young adults start taking life seriously. Persons in this bracket invest heavily into their mental and emotional health. They also want to look smart and be healthy so physical fitness is not neglected (Falvo, 2010).

Marriage

Marriage takes place in the late twenties and early thirties. This stage of life affects the three states of health care.The individual will take great care of his or her mental, physical and emotional health. This is because they want to enjoy good health and they also want to retain impress their mates.

Mid life

In this age bracket which falls from the age of 40 a crisis known as midlife crisis occurs. Thus this age automatically affects the emotional health of the patient. There is also stress from work and the body has begun to accumulate fat (Falvo, 2010). Patient’s health care then is affected.

Retirement

By the time of retirement the patient is mostly weak and suffers from a number of ailments. The patient’s emotional health will have been affected by life’s stresses like divorce and family fallouts. The process of aging also affects the patient thereby affecting his or her health care (Last, 1983).
