Eventing is a horse event which comprises of the following categories; the dressage, cross-country and the show jumping which is also refferd to as stadium jumping. This event has its origins in an all comprehensive cavalry test which required the mastery of several styles of riding. There are three main formats;there is the one-day event abreviated as ODE,the two-day event(2DE) and the three-day event (3DE). The sport which was reffered to as the Militaire where the riders would complete all the three events in a single day which was known as horse trial. Combined training is a type of competition that tests both your dressage and jumping skills. It comprises of a dressage test which is followed by a jumping round. You can qualify for the Spillers Response Combined Training Championships, which take place on the first day of the Winter Championships in April, at three different levels: preliminary, novice and open. In the jumping phase, you will be expected to negotiate eight to 12 fences, including at least one double, but there will be no water jumps. The speed demanded at all levels is 325m per minute (350 yards per minute). The same horse and rider partnership must complete both phases and elimination from one phase means elimination from the competition.
