In this essay, we will discuss the reasons why the individuality of white-collar employee working conditions changed.
The change in individuality of an employee in the white-collar jobs is determined on the skills, wages and the corporate growth structure of an organization among other factors that sets the performance outcome of the organization. An industry’s set targets of goals and objectives may changes with an increase from a single profit realization to multi-profit realization of an organization, leading to an individual change in working methods and the ability to meet the set targets. Depending on what needs to be achieved within a given set time-line, employees are able to re-strategize and value teamwork as a way of achieving goals. Therefore, in order to attain the corporate growth and structure, the top management must restructure the employees and their work plan or work force, hence changing the individual’s working conditions (Leicht & Mary, 2001).
The set up of trade unions by and for the employees has improved the workers’ welfare and protected their rights from employers who intimidate workers changing working conditions. Reliance on teamwork has consequently brought about the achievable results, hence leading to attractive wages as a motivating factor for the workers and this, in return, shows that the employers’ incentives are improved, and job content better monitored. Where employees’ anxiety is heightened through a promised working conditions and rewards, there is minimal potential obsolescence and labor has been as a commodity due to the dependence on the rapid growth that is minimized by the job security of white-collar jobs (Karatnycky, Motyl & Sturmthal, 1980). Therefore, individuality has changed through teamwork; changes in priorities of the organizational top management also occurred.
