The food that was chosen to use in this paper is spinach, which falls under the category of vegetables. Analyzing its nutritional components, raw spinach contains low saturation of fats, hence low cholesterol levels. Spinach is a good source of zinc, and niacin. It also consists of protein, dietary fiber, vitamin A, C and vitamin E.  Spinach has other nutritional components that range from magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium, phosphorous, manganese and copper.

On a daily basis, it is healthy to consume five portion sizes of spinach to improve the diet. The composition of carbohydrates in spinach is 1.5g, and lipids are 7% mol.  The content of protein in spinach varies based on its type and preparation method. A cup of raw regular spinach contains 1g of protein, while mustard spinach contains 3.3 g of proteins.  There are seven calories present in one cup of raw spinach. The other nutritional component includes vitamin C, potassium, and magnesium.

The water content in spinach is 93.4 g. It is vital in life, because it is a constituent of a human body from 55% to 78%. The physical properties of water are evident when it is odorless, tasteless, and colorless at a room temperature. Water has a unique chemical property which makes it a universal solvent; hence it assists humans in their digestive process. The most abundant category of biological molecule in spinach is proteins which are highest in mustard spinach with 3.3 g content. The structure of protein molecule consists of three amino acids and ionized carboxyl groups. The primary functions of protein molecule are defending the body against germs and acting as enzymes to facilitate biochemical reactions.

Spinach is recommended as a nutritious and a healthy diet, because it consists of variety of nutrients that benefits the body. Based on the food pyramid, spinach consists of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and vitamins that assist the body in digestion.
