Animal Camouflage

Over several centuries, various animals have managed to adapt to the environment through color variation. Basically, this ability of animals to change colors in order to blend with a certain environment is called camouflage.

There are two kinds of camouflage used by different animal species for survival. These include defensive camouflage and aggressive camouflage. Defensive camouflage is an ability of certain animal species to change their colors to match with the environment in order to protect themselves from predators. Aggressive camouflage, on the contrary, is used by predators to hunt their preys. Similarly, human beings have adopted this concept of camouflage in their various activities including hunting and military actions. However, people have to incorporate a series of colors in order to achieve their hunting mission. Generally animals have different ways and skills of camouflaging. In this respect, the scientists believe that camouflage is not necessary for all animals, but for animals which need it for survival. With regard to the human being is also not a necessity for survival. This concept of camouflage is multidisciplinary because it involves both transformative and mix-and-blend approaches of multicultural curriculum. From the mix-and-blend approach, the concept can also be applied to the real life situation such as the framework of education. From the education point of view, adaptability implies the ability of the education framework to change according to the development and changes of the societal and students needs (Banks, 2009). This is the point where the transformative approach is seen .For instance; education should take into consideration the diverse racial and cultural aspects of students. In conclusion, the importance of camouflage to animal species is that it enables them to survive either by protecting themselves from predators or by hiding themselves from prey in order not to be caught for food.
