Various studies have proved that many students go against the alcohol violation rule in colleges. The common measure used is asking the participants how many and how much they usually drink. Drinking among college students is a serious problem with alcohol being the most commonly used. Quantifying how much each student takes is hard in cases where the individuals have variable alcohol intake. The reports may be affected by the difficulty in answering the frequency and quantity of usual intake. Most students say that it is easy to get alcohol even though it is illegal. The risk that drinking poses is often underestimated by these students. Only a small number of students think that drinking heavily once or twice a weekend is a great risk.Some of the real risks involved with alcohol are that it is a powerful, mood-altering substance. College students lack the judgment and coping skills for handling alcohol wisely. Several deaths and disabilities have been caused by alcohol-related traffic accidents. Drowning, suicide, fire, and homicide are linked with deaths of many college students. The likelihood of students becoming sexually active is also increased among the alcohol users. This is risky because these students engage in unprotected sex which may cause sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies. These students are victims of violent crime like rape and robbery. Those that report regular drinking are also abusers of other drugs. Two out of five students have been found to be alcohol consumers.The question of the number of alcohol outlets in neighborhoods near colleges than in similar neighborhoods that are far from colleges should answer the likelihood of students taking alcohol. The second hand effects of alcohol use experienced by the residents living in communities near a college explain the extent to which college students take alcohol. The relationship between the increased secondhand effects and alcohol outlets near a school should clearly illustrate the percentage of students' alcohol intake.

The reason that most students' give as to why they take alcohol is that it is a rite of passage while others argue that a college student should take alcohol especially over weekends. However this may not be the truth because most students don't seem to know why they engage in the beer drinking activity. It is widely known that most college students are influenced by their peers into alcohol without their knowledge. Most of the students who take alcohol perform poorly in class because of low concentration capability resulting from hangovers. Most Mondays for college students are hangover nursing days so less is done in class. Other students consume alcohol due to its availability and cheap price which the students can afford.

Most of the students claim that they feel great when they take alcohol and forget most of the stressing class work, punishments, strict schools, and harsh parents. This does not justify the wrong behavior because the side effects are worse than the reasons they give for abusing alcohol. These students end up with more stress and hangovers that make them redundant in all areas of their lives ranging from school work to home chores. After enquiring how many times the student visit the hospital, those that abuse alcohol tend to have a higher frequency of visiting the health facility. It is common for this to happen because alcohol deteriorates the immune system of the abuser making the person more prone to illnesses.The students claimed that the fact that alcohol selling joints are all over makes them participate in alcohol abuse without having to struggle in order to obtain it. Most students engage in alcohol activities during the weekend and some of them carry the substance inside the school compound illegally. Such kind of students influences others to take beer even during weekdays making them fail to concentrate in class.
