A research proposal is a concise synopsis of a research paper that gives readers adequate information about a work that has been done and how it was done. A typical research proposal always aims at convincing an assessor or the concerned committee that the research paper was done perfectly well and would be useful in developing a theme. The basic characteristics of proposal include having an introductory part, the part that contains the objectives and methodology, and a summary part. The introductory part of a proposal contains some sub-sections of the whole document. Chief among the sections is the title of the proposal that a researcher is writing about. This section is followed by a thesis statement which may be made up of two or more sentences. A thesis statement is the framework in which all the ideas will revolve around. There is also a section that will define the various terms that will be frequently used by the researcher. Additionally, the background information about the selected topic is given in the first part. The literature review also forms part of this section. The literature review outlines various authors' works. The other essential part of a research proposal is the methodology section that will explain exhaustibly all the methods used to carry out the particular research. This part also will bring out the full information about the tools used and the ways in which the research was carried out. In this part also, one will be able to decipher the importance of carrying out the research. The final part of the proposal is the summary part that will indicate among other things, the problems encountered the practicality of the proposal, and a conclusion that will involve the reaffirmation of the thesis statement. In addition, it will include the bibliographic information used by the researcher while carrying out his research.
