He also states the reasons why life expectancy is higher for women than for men. By using these facts, Rockwell makes the article more convincing to his audience. In my opinion, his tone appeals to all audiences especially those who are not in favor of consumerism.

As an activist, Rockwell is extraordinarily passionate about consumerism and how it has been wrongfully accused. In this same paragraph, he uses cause/effect to explain why the expectancy rate for women is higher than that of men.
