Values during the 1920’s and 1930’s

Consequences of both world wars were almost predicable. The political principle of militarism forced by swift industrialization, entangling unions and imperium, caused frequent conflicts among the most powerful european countries. At that time the powers wanted to fight but did not have a reason. The assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand of Australia on June 28th 1914 in Sarajevo city gave that reason. France, Russia and England hastily declared war with Ottoman Empire, Australia and Germany.

Second World II war followed the first one. Versailles Treaty finished World War 1, chastised and disgraced Germany. Later it facilitated the rise of Nazis who disobeyed the Treaty and started a new world war.

The approach of the two world wars was evident from the technological changes. World War 1 introduced new, numerous military technologies. The Germans terrorized the Atlantic, surpassed British naval power and the introduced a submarine as a new naval warfare. To oppose the approach of trenches, French used tanks. Also, another highly developed gun machines were widespread. Airplanes were earlier investigateded and later became arms. The use of chemicals for military purpose enriched the variety of new war weapons.

World War II was more destructive than World War I. More than forty one million people died. It is impossible to imagine so many victims of any current wars or military conflicts. Also, during World War I, European colonies were not engaged in battles because almost all military operations took place in Europe . During World War II the fightings covered every continent, even such a neutral state as Switzerland suffered attacks.
