For students to succeed their life, they must have a global vision of their future. The Internet is one of the most significant, tools for an individual to be successful in their future. The internet provides jobs, enables communication to the world, and it is fundamental that children learn from the Internet too.

Importance of the internet in education

The advent of the internet has remained a crucial component in enhancing education growth. The internet makes it possible for information to reach every part of the world making people informed and better thinkers. Powell & Kalina argues that the relationship between humans and technology can be described as “synergetic.” Although some people believe that technology has been beneficial to the human race, others argue that people have become overly dependent on the internet. The main objective of this essay is to present reasons why the internet is indispensable and the education fraternity.

It is sometimes referred to as a network of interconnecting computers and also connecting interconnected networks of computers to each other. The use of Internet allows liberation of the mind from retaining vast amounts of information. It is only paramount to understand that key concepts by which information is structured.

The internet allows teachers to use current online teaching methods that are easy to students. The internet has necessitated online education thereby eliminating space and time constraints in acquiring education. (Role of Internet in Education) The use of online education has enabled students to interconnect through virtual learning, where they interact over the internet, hold classroom discussions and acquire online degrees.  Current assessments of quality education of graduate students show serious deficiencies in reasoning efficiently.

Researches indicate that forty three percent more of secondary school teachers use technology during teaching than elementary. In the secondary learning, social studies teachers are the frequent users of technology while English teachers appear to be less frequent users. The science and mathematics teachers also use technology frequently although they also drop to moderate usage at times. Teachers’ age and experience seem not to make much difference in use of the internet and technology. Older and more experienced teachers seem to use technology in class more frequently than new teachers, who use it more at a personal level (The Importance of Internet in Education).

Students can use Google Maps to find direction, when they are lost with the help of the internet and a GPS enabled phones. They can locate classes easily in cases where lessons have been rescheduled. Communication is made globally easy through technology and students can work anywhere and not necessarily be within the office walls. They can submit assignments online and interact freely with their instructors. Someone can go on holiday with his/her family and at the same time, working and performing assignments from there, while being as productive as any other student is. People are enabled to purchase items via the internet and have them delivered to the doorstep. This saves time and energy for students.

Students are able use the Internet to locate information or practice skills. The Websites provide multiplication, math practice and homework assistance. Through the use of internet, the process of communication has been simplified. People all over the world use different social media platforms such as Google Chat, Yahoo messenger, Facebook, Skype, MySpace and Twitter to communicate and share pertinent information. The internet has significantly enhanced interconnectivity and relationships among students in institutions of learning.

The connection between the internet and education is described as symbiotic. This is because while internet assists education, education propels the use of technology. Since we live in the age of technological innovations, it is paramount to stay abreast with the latest inventions. With the application of internet, people become better educated thus improving on their interaction and interconnection in the society.

Learning to Browse

At the time students reach high school and the middle grades; they must have instruction on how to surf the Internet. An example is using Google, to gain information. When it comes to Job hunting, the internet saves time and resources because all jobs can be accessed through the internet.

Research is the practice carried out by people in search for answers to questions with the purpose of advancing knowledge and providing solutions to problems. Research helps in the provision of proof to the interested researcher who takes his time in search for knowledge. Lately, technology is being used in the education sector for studies, and it has gradually been widely accepted in the learning institutions (Leary, "Importance of Internet to Education”). Governments and education boards spend large amounts of money to acquire internet equipments in learning institutions for easy access to information (The Importance of Internet in Education). Many programs have also been developed in favor of learning institutions whereby researching and usage of technology is made easy, and access of study material through the internet is limitless. However, some of the learning institutions are facing the challenge of integrating technology with their normal institutional programs.

Internet Future

Due to globalization, the internet has introduced an extensive need for jobs that lacked five years ago. Students ought to learn about the Internet and also realize that, it is the future of learning. For one to be successful, he must educate himself on the Internet and what it contains to prepare for their future. People go to the internet to seek information, make friends and entertain themselves.

The advent of the internet has impacted different spheres of life and revolutionized the way people live. In fact, researchers have described technology which includes the internet as “God’s second greatest gift to mankind after the gift of life”. Technology is the mother of sciences, arts and civilizations and invention (Role of Internet in Education). Through technology, the internet plays a crucial role in the field of education. The internet is used  by tutors to connect students with teacher as opposed to the traditional face to face mode of learning. As a result of technology, the society has become more interconnected in the following ways.

The classroom has become more intriguing since the chalk board has been replaced by computers and other interactive audio visual mediums, such as projectors. Research has shown that the use of technology has profoundly influenced and increased the student’s concentration levels in classrooms (The Importance of Internet in Education). As a result of technology, education has become a more customized to suit the curriculum and needs of students. Experts in the education industry have utilized technology (internet websites) to conduct research studies that have positively influenced the society

The 21st century skills provide that a student need to have both theoretical and practical knowledge, whereby they should be familiar with life and working environments and also particularly relevant new skills in the competitive global economy. Such skills would be achieved by mixing the old learning practices with the emerging technology practices. The institutional usage of technology and the internet may be categorized into four segments according to the period or percentage used by teachers during learning. The teachers who spend thirty one percent or more time using technology during their teaching are classified as frequent users while those who use twenty percent to thirty percent time are classified as moderate users (The Importance of Internet in Education).

Half of the teaching staff provides that they fail to use technology in classes because it is not necessary in their areas of teaching. Twenty two percent says that technology is necessary in their area of teaching, but access to the internet is limited. Seven percent claim the technology device is not available while six percent do not know how to use technology. The social media, that is facebook, for example, and all other sites help students interact with the world through a hand held device. However, this is only beneficial if used moderately. Creativity is also required; when chatting on the social sites and this helps the young people maneuver through situations in life that need creativity. Children below eighteen years use technology to do their homework, get entertained, stay in touch with friends and socialize, and acquire technical skills. Serious students use the internet to access information on life issues as well as research for their studies (ISTE).

In conclusion, I think that the use of internet in education has positively transformed the society and increased interconnection among people.  The greatest impact of technology on education is the paradigm shift of people’s thinking from local to global. Technology has enabled and enhanced sharing of ideas across the globe, thereby enriching the lives of millions of people. Although technology has its own limitations, it is evident that its benefits to society far much outweigh its disadvantages.
