In the past years before 1991, it was only the sun that was believed to be producing its own solar. There was no evidence of this and the Astronomers decided to find out. Few years later, the astronomers found the first extrasolar planet that was orbiting to the next star. There were other, various extrasolar planets that were also detected orbiting to other stars. There are various detection methods of extra solar planets.
This is the oldest technique in astronomy. Planets have extremely faint lights when compared to the stars and this light that they produce tend to be lost to their parent stars. This makes it extremely difficult to distinguish them easily. It essentially depends on incarcerating visible light that is originating from exoplanet (McBrewster 98). There is a contradiction in luminosity between the planet and the star. Nulling interferometry is one of the approaches that are commonly used in this method. Astrometry is another method that mainly involves measuring the sky's position and then observing closely how the position fluctuates over time.
It is sometimes known as Doppler shift. It typically takes the spectra elements. A star shifts in its own little orbit responding to the gravity of the planet. Radial velocity method takes the measures of these variations so as to confirm is the planet exists. Most planet hunters have used this method, and it has been an extraordinarily effective method. The method as much as it is distance independent, it requires a particularly high noise signal. This is just to ensure a higher attention of high accuracy.
The spectral lines are assessed critically as possible effects of gravitation in the planet. It is best used when finding the size of the planets like Jupiter. The method whoever is not sensitive on determining the weight of other planets like earth mars and Venus. This method is suitable to the sequential stars. Radial velocity method needs massive investment of time and resources. It is only after a full orbit rotation is attained, that a candidate planet can be proved. When analyzing the starlight spectrographically, vertical lines are always revealed.
Earth like planet
The planet is not pleasing due to wear and tear process and is going on the daily basis. May be one day we may need a different planet to settle apart from the earth. It is at this point that most of the scientists are out to find out other planets that resemble the earth. The researchers are also available in finding out if we are alone in the universe (Goldsmith 431). The researchers have realized that there are so many earth-like planets, and that life is not found on the earth planet only.
Scientists have recently discovered a planet in Libra that resembles the earth. The planet has the same nominal temperature like that of the earth. The solar system contains nine planets if Pluto is among them. The researcher do not honestly state if there is life in the newly discovered planet but they say that the temperature can grant life on the planet (Garrison 58). The new planet orbits around a faint red star that is commonly called Gliese found in the Libra constellation. It is said to be having almost the same size like the earth. Just like the earth, Gliese has a rocky appearance.
Though this cannot assuredly be seen, it is believed that the rocks are hidden down in its surface. Few years ago, a little star was discovered that almost resembled the sun. During the analysis, it was discovered that it has almost a similar mass to that of the sun. The star keeps on going to and from on the orbit planet at remarkably regular intervals.
