Dear Mr. X,
I am taking the time to write to you because of my deep concern regarding your policies on illegal immigration. Although I am not an immigrant, being a foreigner I can relate to those wishing to establish a decent new life in our great land of America. Although I realize not all foreigners and immigrants are good people, the majority comes here with only good intentions. Please understand that many of these people are completing the labor jobs none of our citizens wish to take whether they are illegal are not. They are more important to our economy than we know it.
Though, I don’t agree that the U.S should not just let anybody in and open the borders to immigrants, I certainly oppose the harsh restrictions that have been placed on them, especially with the recent SB1070 anti-illegal immigration act.
I understand that you are only trying to protect our nation, but this does not justify your extreme law enforcement policies. If you really want to keep “illegals” out like you say, then make it easier for those who wish to come “legally” by challenging this outrageous citizenship process. You say you are not racist, don’t have a problem with illegal immigrants and are only concerned with those who are here illegally, so show me that this is the case. Instead of treating all immigrants as suspect, help them and help our nation by enabling them to receive their papers in a timelier and less restrictive manner.
Thank you for considering my proposal. I am not here to point fingers or harass you with nonsense. I truly believe that by making it easier for immigrants to receive their citizenship, less of them will ultimately come over our borders illegally. I hope to see that you make an effort in this way, because I feel like it will benefit you, the immigrants and the people of AZ in the long run. Furthermore, it will help silence your stronger critics and allow you to do your job well without hassle.
