The Major Causes of the American Revolution, Long-Range, and Especially Developments from 1763 to 1776

Historical events do not exist outside of space and time. According to researchers, it is necessary to search for the causes of the American Revolution in the previous history of the development of human society. So far, among the historians studying the American Revolution, there is no consensus either in identifying the causes of the revolution, in its terms or in determining the outcome and significance of this event. It was a war between Great Britain and thirteen colonies situated in North America. This revolution ended with the independence of all thirteen states after the Treaty of Paris. There is not a definite event that may be called as the main actual cause of the American War of Independence, however, a large number of political reasons, economic reasons, and introduction of certain acts led to it. The main social reason was that Americans complained about how they were treated by British colonizers. They started the Revolution in order to deserve the same rights as British. The British believed that colonized people must be treated in a way to protect the parliament and the crown. “No taxation without representation” was the famous American slogan. The road to Revolution was very slow, but it followed a clear course. Proclamation of 1763 may be considered as the attempt to prevent American colonists from going to Appalachian Mountains by establishing the western boundaries. Americans took offense at this order. The Sugar Act of 1764 was the next step. British colonizers introduced taxes not only on sugar but wine and other things. The British wanted to force colonists to cell produced goods to Britain instead of other countries. With the Currency Act, the British colonizers began to regulate the paper money that were issued by the thirteen colonies of the North America. The currency of the British colonies was dangerous for the British trade. Afterwards, Committees of Correspondence, which spread propaganda, were created. By Quartering Act of 1765, British imposed indirect taxes for the colonists. The Stamp Act was passed in 1765 and was the first direct tax passed by British Parliament (all the previous were hidden on indirect), which required tax stamps. A large number of printed materials newspapers, magazines and legal documents were printed in the stamped paper which carried the embossed revenue stamp. One more factor which led to the American War of Independence was the protest march started by the colonies which were called Sons and Daughters of Liberty. They fought against imposing non-importation agreements. It was made up of the American Patriots and was a secret political party. Their main aim was to bring the changes in the way the British colonizers treated the American colonies. It is not a full list of acts that infringe upon the rights of American people.
