Tokyo and Hong Kong. Custom Tokyo and Hong Kong Essay Writing Service || Tokyo and Hong Kong Essay samples, help

Tokyo is the capital city of Japan. It is one of the largest metropolitan cities in the world. The city has been developing for many years to become a commercial, industrial as well as administrative center of Japan. On the other hand, Hong Kong is a city in China. It is located on the south coast. It is one of the most densely populated areas in the world with a land mass of approximately 1,104 kilometer squared. Despite that fact that the two cities are located in the Asian part of the continent, they have various similarities and differences in terms of their population demographics, economic structure, socio-political culture, environmental stress issues, culture as well as religion. Thus, this paper entails a comparison of the two cities in terms of these factors.

Hong Kong’s economic structure is characterized by both manufacture and service sectors. Businesses in these sectors operate in a free environment. They receive government’s support that includes reduced taxation. The city is significantly developed in terms of infrastructure and investments (Rozanna, 1998). This has resulted in availability of human resources as well as educational facilities resulting in economic growth. Various manufacturing companies in Hong Kong contribute greatly into the China’s service sector. Agriculture is also practiced in the city that contributes to the overall agricultural production in the mainland. However, the manufacturing sector in Hong Kong contributes to about 7.6 percent of the country’s GDP (Poshek, 2002). This leads to increased labor force employed in the manufacturing sector. Some of the products include: electrical machineries, footwear, textiles, and electrical appliances, etc.

On the other hand, the economic structure of Tokyo is highly based on services and industrial sectors. Tokyo is known globally for its manufacture of automobiles, electronics and heavy industrial machines. These industries rely on highly advanced technology in the city. This has made Tokyo to rise as one of the world’s economic power. The Gross Domestic Products of Tokyo is approximately $ 4.23 trillion. Similarly, its per capita income was $ 33,100 in 2006. Moreover, the service sector contributes to about 73 percent of the total GDP. The industrial sector had about 25.5 percent while the agricultural sector comprises about 1.5 percent. The real growth rate was 2.2 percent in 2006. Consecutively, the labor force employed in the service industry is about 67.7 percent. Thus, Tokyo is usually strengthened by its various industries of the manufacturing high technology products such as heavy automobiles, ships, electronic equipments as well as steel and chemicals.

Hong Kong has been characterized by a steadily increasing population over the years. For instance, in 2000, the population was about 7.1 million. Moreover, its overall density is approximately 6,300 people per square kilometer. In this city, most people live in high erected buildings due to increased number of buildings to accommodate large population. Indeed, the city is considered to be one of the most densely populated cities in the world. The population growth rate is estimated to be 1.35 percent with the birth rate of 11.29 per 1,000 of population and a death rate of approximately 5.93 deaths per 1,000 of population. Life expectancy in the area is 79.54 years for the males and 82.41 years for females. The majority of residents in this area are males. On the contrary, according to the recent census, the population of Tokyo was estimated to be 128,057,352. This characterizes the city as one of the most fast growing cites in the world. However, the 2012 census indicated a reduction in the total population growth. For instance, the population was about 127,650,000 (Edwin, 2003). This marked a significant fall in the net population. The reduced population has been attributed to fall in birth rates as well as immigration. The city has a high life expectancy that is about 81.25 years (Barbara, 1989). The population density was approximately 336 people per square kilometer. Thus, the population has been decreasing significantly in the recent years due to various factors. This is directly opposite to that of Hong Kong where the population has been rising steadily over the years.  Female population is larger compared to male (Poshek, 2002). This is contrary to that of Hong Kong where the majority is males.
