The forensic analysts are specialized in explosive investigation, and they can tell what was the nature of explosion and the main source of the explosion. There are three types of explosives. These include mechanical, chemical, and nuclear explosives. The most common types of explosives used are the mechanical and chemical explosives. In the United States of American, the most commonly used types of explosives are the traditional pipe bombs, Molotov cocktails, and improvised explosives. These explosives contain flammable liquids, and black and smokeless powder that pose a massive threat to the public safety. Improvised explosives devices are commonly used in bombing since the components used are easy to make and cheap. Bombs are designed to incapacitate a personnel or a vehicle, and they contain chemicals such as the lethal, noxious, pyrotechnic or incendiary chemicals. The devices found in crime scenes are small, but they have an enormous destructive capability.

Bombs can be transported by different mechanisms. Some bombs are attached to vehicles, boats, animals, briefcases, suicide bombers, and the mobile phones. The delivery mechanism of a bomb depends on the intention of a person. Vehicles are planted with the explosive devices and they are controlled using remotes. On the other hand, cell phones are used to trigger an explosive since they are sufficient to initiate a firing circuit of an explosive. A human carrier wears the explosive device and detonates it when he gets to his target.
